| This topic is made for sharing scary stories and urban legends. You can also share stories from 4Chan or CreepyPasta. Thank you! I've heard a story of the Slender Man. Even though it's confirmed to be fake (from a picture topic on SomethingAwful) it's a very interesting and scary read. I've also read Candle Cove, which you can read + here. Happy sharing

| Have you heard about The Babysitter?
Basically she recieves calls from a weird stalker. She calls the Operator, and it turns out that the calls are coming from upstairs. Depending on the version, the kids die, she dies, or it's a combination, or she and the kids survive. |

| I've heard of the Babysitter one. The version I read is that he came down the stairs and was very creepy looking, and just stared at the babysitter on the stairs. She eventually called the police and they arrested him. I think I read it in that visually disturbing book "Scary Stories."
I learned of an urban legend in my town recently actually. Supposedly there was a factory or warehouse that was abandoned or closed down because there was evidence of human experiments going on (crazy, huh?) and apparently, some of those experiments escaped into the woods. Legend says that if you drive down Park Ave. start to finish at night and look in your rear view mirror, you'll see them. They're nicknamed "Lemonheads" because of their experimental deformation.
It's really scary! |

| Ugh, the Babysitter one I've heard many times and it's my worst nightmare. I babysit a lot for a really nice little kid and I'd be terrified if that happened. I'm already scared some person's gonna come in with a gun or something when I'm babysitting. Hmm...I know an urban legend from Japan. Maybe some of you have heard of it. It's about a woman, who's now a wandering spirit, that got her face disfigured, slashed ear to ear. Her husband, a samurai (it's an old tale but there are modern versions too), found out his wife was cheating on him so he cut her mouth ear-to-ear and told her, "Who will think you're pretty now?" The modern version is that the woman was in a car crash. But regardless of the version, the woman is called Kuchisake-Onna (Cut-Mouth Woman) and people say that this woman walks around Japan, wearing a white surgical mask. This is not unusual, since lots of people in Japan wear masks around cold season. But when she approaches someone, usually at night, she will ask them, "Am I pretty?" The person answers yes to be polite, and then the woman yanks off her mask, revealing her cut face and says, "Am I pretty NOW?" If the person says no then, the woman kills them. If the person's a man and says yes, she follows them home and then kills them, but if it's a woman, she disfigures their face the same was hers was. The woman supposedly carries a huge pair of scissors and cuts her victim's face with them. You can escape from her if, when she asks "Am I pretty", by saying "You're so-so", (she will think which lets the person run away), by throwing candy which distracts her, or by asking back, "Am I pretty?" This confuses her so the person can run away. What do you think? That's a popular urban legend. Public security in Japan was increased for a while because of reports of Kuchisake Onna appearing. Teachers would escort their students home from school each day, or so I read. |

| That Kuchisake-Onna urban legend is great! Very scary. And how people believed in it.. Even the AUTHORITIES! Must be some scare.
There's something similar to that one. Ever heard of Toire no Hanako-san? Or Hanako-san of The Toilet?
Legend doesn't date back that far, but there is some history to it. It says that one day, a girl was playing hide and seek with her friends, and she hid in the 3rd stall from the left of the restroom. This was during the World War II era, so bombs went off suddenly, and the roof collapsed on her, and she died. Years later, the school was renovated completely, and no one remembered about the accident. Other stories say she died by being bullied by fellow classmates, or being harassed by an abusive parent or pervert.
This is the good part; it is said that at that school, if you go to the bathroom and knock three times on the 3rd stall and say, "Hanako-san, let's play a game," or "Hanako-san, are you there?" To which she will reply: "Ha~i." (Japanese word for "yes"). If you are courageous enough to open the 3rd stall door, you will see her spirit, and she will either grab you into the stall and kill you/spirit you away, or she will just frighten you.
This was popular in the 80's, and many similar legends revolved around the world. I would not go into a Japanese toilet alone, if you ask me. |

| I've heard both of those legends from a website (I forgot which one, though). They are, indeed, very scary. Some part of me makes me think 'true' |

| Oooh yeah I heard that one. I saw it in a DVD about Japan Scary Tales. The girl in the story reached over the stall and the ghost grabbed her hand and almost pulled her over the top. |

Haha yeah. Now I get creeped about bathrooms too, mostly because of The Calling.
The other day, I was in a building on campus, and I had to go wash my hands but the hall of the bathrooms was dark. I decided to go ahead and see if I could keep going even in the dark. I got to the door, opened it, and felt around for the light switch. I admit I got scared, thinking that a ghost hand would grab me. I went back to the hall and found a light switch and turned it on, then went back. It was creepy let me tell you. The wanderers of the Abyss sure have to deal with a lot of uncertainty and learn to get rid of their fear. |

| Gah. Scary bathroom story : P I had a similar one.
One day in 8th Grade, the power to the school went out, and all the hallways and classrooms were dark (except for the sunlight coming in the through the windows. However, the bathrooms don't have windows, so they were total darkness. I had to go use the bathroom reeeeeally bad so I went there, received a flashlight from a faculty who was standing outside the bathroom, and slowly made my way inside.
It was JUST like Calling!! Before I did my business I had to pass by the toilet stalls, and I freaked out because I heard a thump noise from one of them, but it turns out it was just another student haha ^_^; It was still scary. |

| Wow, that is scary...anything can be in the dark. If it's a ghost in the bathroom though, in your bathroom, that's kind of rude. I hate being in the dark thinking I'm going to fall into something, or run into something...like a grue! Just kidding. A grue is a fictional monster that lives in the dark and was in old adventure games. There are T-shirts about grues now, that say, "It is very dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue." When I was trying to find the light switch, after I got some more light, I saw the switch had been just below my hand. So close... ZOMG I just found the Kilmorey Lodge! It's in Waterton National Park, Alberta. Turned out I had been spelling it wrong all these years...ugh.... -.- But anyway...if you spell it like that then you can find stuff about it. The lodge burned down after "spontaneous combustion in the laundry room", apparently. It was a nice place but I read they're rebuilding it....and it'll probably still be haunted when it's rebuilt. The owner or someone said that he hopes the ghost that supposedly haunts it will come back. XDD Isn't that funny, and cool? I was actually in a haunted place and I think my mom and I saw a shadow figure there....or something otherwise creepy. |
