The Girl in Red...

Who exactly is the girl in red encountered during selected events in the game?

Was she a drifter? Is she part of a memory of a dead one? Did she create the Black Page? Was she a victim in the hospital?

My theory is that something else is in the works, and that this girl probably created The Black Page-an entrance to the Mnemonic Abyss.

Any other theories? Could this be some other manifestation of Reiko? Is this Reiko's mother?

Alternatively, she could be a Drifter. If you examine the notes, there are numerous drifters, one being made by a girl.

I believe she will play a much bigger role in the sequel...

But I've also speculated that she could've been a drifter as well. But it doesn't explain how she can appear in many locations in the Mnemonic Abyss. The drifters' notes written by the same people are usually in the same location, which meant they never transported.

I also think that she could've been a patient in the hospital, and been a radiation patient. I thought of this when I encountered her as Makoto in the Kuromiya Hospital's basement. You go down the hallway to the end, and you turn around and she walks into the Radiation Treatment Room. It's a bit vague, but it may be something.

As a side note, I really think that she is a great addition to the game. Someone that isn't really a part of the plot, but you want to find out about them because you see them in such weird situations.

I found all her locations. If you found all 7-8 of her locations and beat the game, go to the title screen and you'll see a red envelope. Click on it and you'll see her pop up one final time. You'll also get the 7th and final red envelope. This made me believe she was a Easter Egg stalker only for the purpose of scaring you.

Sounds amazing. But, she still could have a larger role in future installments, right?

I believe she could play one of those Easter Egg roles like the dog or UFO's in the Silent Hill series, which you see as easter eggs in almost every one of those games.

I always thought it was a 'side' of Reiko, anyways, I think that it could fit into the sequel too

I used to think she was a Drifter, too.

It might be a side of Reiko that is only there as Easter Egg, let's hope the (rumored) sequel give more information about her.

I just remembered something. I think she is a Drifter or someone who got lost in the Mnemoic Abyss. But do you guys remember this?

Remember the ghost of the schoolgirl that you only see for a split second as you ascend a staircase in The Awakening chapter? It's the same girl in the small photo on the desk of the Title Screen, after you recieve the fake ending. Both that schoolgirl and the Girl in Red look very similar, so maybe they are the same person.

I've heard many different things about this. But I heard somewhere she was not a drifter. Drifters left notes in only one area, but you see this girl everywhere. I'm not sure about that theory but that's what I picked up from another forum.

Nah, I don't want to. It's what makes forum discussions forum discussions, like how they leave the ending of some Silent Hill games to the player's imagination.

She's a little girl, maybe Reiko's age. She has black clothes and wears a black bowler hat. You see her through the hotel room peephole as Makoto, and sometimes when you exit the menu. I decided to bring this up here since I didn't know if making a whole topic for her would be very long. Who else has seen her and who do you think she is? I don't think she's Reiko, although at one point I thought she was, and just had different clothes for some reason. Like GiR, there is probably some reason she's following the player around....even if it was just that time in the hotel. Or maybe it was random. It was just Makoto who saw her then.

I think I mentioned this before, but have you seen the schoolgirl ghost? NOT any of the three misfit schoolgirls that you fight, I mean a different one. You first see her after you walk up a flight of stairs in The Awakening, and she just appears and disappears there. Also, on the title screen (the one of the desk), you see a slightly tattered photo of her on the bottom right. Sometimes a demon face appears on that photo. She wears a black and grey uniform, unlike the white and blue of the three ghosts.

I think I have seen her....but I can't remember very well. I remember being startled, and maybe I thiiiiiink I thought she was going to attack but she didn't. And I do remember you talking about the fourth schoolgirl. I look at her picture on the desktop each time I start up the game, but I haven't ever seen it as the demon picture. Maybe I will sometime. I hope it's not too rare of an occurence; I want to see it.

If her uniform's a different style, maybe she's a student from a longer time ago. And....do you remember transporting into the school bathroom as Makoto (before his notebook gets stolen, I think), opening a stall door and seeing the ghost of a student who hung herself? Or maybe she was just hovering in midair and I didn't look up in time to see all of her. Anyway, I thought it was the tallest female student's ghost, but maybe it was that girl in the desk photo. But I can't remember what the floating ghost's uniform looked like now.

You mean the person standing on the staircase landing? I thought that was a boy

There are a lot of unnamed ghosts in this game. I really like the concept, I would like to see more in the sequel. To sum it up, I believe that the unnamed ghosts are, the Girl in Red, the Bowler Hat Girl, the Staircase Landing Girl, and Tattered Face Girl.

I believe that they're manifested from the memories of whomever died in that area, so they could be victims of The Black Page/Mnemonic Abyss as well.

Good names

I just remembered that someone put a new picture in the Wiki picture bank of the Tattered Face Girl. I recognized her gray and blue uniform. I think the picture of her was in a scenario for Makoto but I'm not sure, I haven't actually gotten there yet. I saw it in a preview video on Youtube. The Tattered Face Girl looked at Makoto, then he got attacked by the red doll in the one story house, and passed out or something. When he woke up, the Tattered Face Girl was leaning over him. Scary...the video ended then so I don't know what happens next.

It might not even be in the game actually; I think it was one of the demo videos.
