A Tale of Two Sisters isn't Japanese.

I saw One Missed Call last week and it was awful. I'm glad I borrowed it off a friend so at least none of my money has gone towards it.

I feel that western horror generally ruins the whole "eastern" aspect of eastern/asian horror movies. However, the Grudge 1 and 2 were good because they were directed by the same Ju On director, so that made me happy...

Are there eastern/asian remakes of American movies? (what a twist!)

I do agree with you on that. I love the Asian ones much more then the American remakes. The third Grudge movie to me kinda sucked and I don't believe they were paying much attention to the 2nd one. The girl who got pulled into her hoodie at the end of the 2nd was the same one that got pulled into the bathtub.

That would be a twist...I love to see what Asian film makers could do with alot of the American movies.

I personally Like the Japanese movies better than their American remakes, for the fact that the Asian culture uses methods that scare you psychologically while the American movies rely heavily on graphic scenes of violence or gore.
Then again I prefer to watch all movies in their original forms. The American Grudge movies were not too badly done but I found myself bored through out them, yet when I saw the Japanese version I was actually afraid to turn off the lights that night.
I was also scared to approach my alter after watching Ju-on as well. The scene where the girl is pulled into her fathers alter scared me a lot.

I'm not sure of the title but if I remember correctly there is a movie that was originally American that was remade somewhere in Asia.
A friend of mine was in Japan recently and found the movie at a street stand in Kyoto I believe.
The movie said that it had just been released and the actors were all Asian yet the same or similar movie had been released in America about two months prior and all the actors in that one were American.

It kind of irritates me that most of the movies out today are remakes, or 'borrowed'. I really wish that there were more original movies out there. The same goes for all the movies that are getting sequels or prequels even though some of these movies are over 5 years old. Unless they were meant to be a series I don't think they should continue making more and more movies just so they can continue the franchise to get more money.

Well the only reason why the American Grudge did so well because it was done by Takashi Shimizu. Who did the Japanese movies. I do find Ju-on was more scary then The Grudge.

I don't think there will be any more original movies, because the last couple years for "new" movie releases have been nothing but some kind of remake either an older movie or some tv show. Hell they are remaking old tv shows into nowadays settings.

I've yet to be impressed by a remake, even if it says it isn't.

I'M LOOKING AT YOU MIRRORS.

Yeah let's see... I like the American remakes but I think the Japanese ones are better and scarier.
